Here are some highlights of the AGLCC history
1988 - First Atlanta Gay Expo - sponsored by Fourth Tuesday
1988 - First Atlanta Gay Expo - sponsored by Fourth Tuesday
1992 - Business Expo: Held by 4th Tuesday. Due to the large size of this project, ideas formed to spin the Expo off into its own group.
1994 - Greater Atlanta Business Coalition (GABC) by members of Fourth Tuesday and the Atlanta Executive Network. Expo held that year is titled The 6th Annual Gay & Lesbian BUSINESS EXPO '94' and the theme "The Gay Buck Starts Here". Non-profit status is formed.
1998 - First Awards Dinner held
1997 - 501c-6 Status was received allowing GABC to be the first recognized Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce in the US.
2000 - Planning for future, GABC decides to focus only on small businesses that support the GLBT community.
2003 - GABC name is changed to the Atlanta Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce and new logo is designed. Hardcopy directories are first printed.
2004 - First Business conference is held.
2005 - Logo is redesigned (AGLCC) and membership drive held. Membership increases over 50%. AGLCC increases focus to include business owners, business professionals, corporations and other nonprofits.
2006 - AGLCC reaches all time high of over 350 business members reaching over 3000 employees.
2007 - AGLCC is selected as the 2007 National Chamber of the Year and ends financially strong.
2008 - AGLCC holds the first Atlanta LGBT event, 2008 Community Awards Dinner, at the Georgia Aquarium. First fulltime Administrator is hired.
